What Is WPC Decking?
WPC decking, also called WPC panels, WPC planks, WPC floor decking or WPC deck flooring, is outdoor composite decking made from wood fibre and recycled plastic, giving the look of timber without the maintenance. This outdoor WPC flooring is built for terraces, pools and balconies. It resists UAE sun, moisture, rot and termites, so it needs no sanding, staining or sealing. WPC Decking vs Wood Decking
In the UAE climate, the choice between composite and natural timber is clear for most outdoor spaces. Composite wins on maintenance, sun, moisture and termites, which are the four things that destroy a timber deck here. Timber wins on the natural feel of real wood. Sun and humidity mean timber needs sanding and oiling on a cycle most owners abandon after two summers.

Timber still appeals for a purely natural feel, but in UAE heat and humidity it needs constant upkeep, which is why most outdoor projects here choose composite.
What WPC Decking Is Made Of
WPC decking is made by combining wood fibre with recycled plastic, often around 45 percent wood to 55 percent HDPE, extruded into boards. Much of it uses a high share of recycled material. Boards come capped (co-extrusion) or uncapped: capped boards have a protective outer shell that resists fading and stains best, while hollow or solid cores suit different spans and budgets.
Composite decking has a European specification of its own. EN 15534-4 covers decking profiles and tiles made from wood-plastic composite, setting the requirements a board is made and tested to, from slip and swelling behaviour to strength and creep under load. Board quality in this market varies more than the price does, so asking whether a profile is made to it is the quickest way to separate a specified board from a cheap import.

WPC decking comes in the standard colours of charcoal, light grey, teak, walnut, cedar and dark brown, with a grooved, anti-slip surface. Light grey and charcoal are the most popular, and light grey stays cooler underfoot in UAE sun.

Decking price depends on the format, board grade and the substructure needed. Supplied and fitted, click deck tiles laid over an existing surface run from around AED 120/sqm (about AED 11.1/sqft). Full boards on a substructure run AED 180 to 320/sqm, and premium capped composite from AED 280 to 400/sqm or more. The substructure is what separates the two. Indicative supply-and-fit guide:

We assess levels and drainage on the site visit, then set joists or adjustable pedestals with falls so water runs off and air moves under the deck. Is WPC decking good for the UAE climate?
Yes, it is one of the best outdoor choices here. WPC decking resists the UV, heat, humidity and moisture that crack, fade and rot natural timber, and it is termite-proof. It also shrugs off sand and dust and cleans with a hose, which makes it well suited to terraces, pools and balconies across the UAE.
WPC decking or wood decking, which is better?
For UAE outdoor spaces, WPC usually wins. Natural timber looks beautiful but needs regular sanding, oiling and sealing, and it still fades, warps or rots in the heat and humidity. WPC composite needs none of that upkeep and lasts well with little care. Timber only really suits those set on a fully natural material.
Does WPC decking get hot in the sun?

WPC decking is a strong choice around pools. It is water-resistant and made with a textured, slip-resistant surface, and it does not splinter, so it is comfortable and safer underfoot when wet. Its resistance to moisture and rot is exactly why it suits poolside and other wet outdoor areas.
How long does WPC decking last?
A well-fitted WPC deck lasts many years with very little maintenance, typically 15 to 25 years depending on the board grade and exposure. Capped and premium boards last longest and hold their colour best. Because there is no sanding, staining or sealing, upkeep is little more than an occasional clean.
Can I put WPC decking on a balcony or rooftop?
